Dogs Fate in City Hands A hearing on Thursday determined the fate of 45 dogs taken from a single Lubbock residence and unfortunately, the decision was not the one the pet owner was hoping for. Municipal Court Judge, Robert Doty, ruled Thursday that all of Todd Marshall`s dogs will be impounded and awarded to the city animal services department.
Back on January 29th, City Animal Services officers took 45 dogs from Marshall`s South Lubbock home. A neighbor had complained about the noise the dogs were making. ImageThe city allows residents no more than four dogs without a multi-pet permit which Marshall did not have. In his written opinion, Judge Doty said the health hazards created by the number of dogs, the lack of rabies vaccinations for some of the animals, as well as Marshall`s failure to voluntarily comply with city code ordinances prompted the decision to award the dogs to the city. Marshall and his wife Jeanie had hoped to get some of the dogs back. But now they just hope the dogs will find good homes elsewhere. "I was shocked, I was hoping for some of them back" says Marshall. "Please go adopt these dogs. They`re the best dogs you can ask for" says Jeanie Marshall. The animal services department will now determine which dogs are healthy and sociable enough for adoption. If you want to inquire about any of these dogs you can call the city animal services at 775-2057 or go by their building at 401 N. Ash. Source: KLBK CBS 13 Feb 21, 2007
